Yu Jordy Fu

So these were really cool, I found them on a blog about London Fashion Week, but i thought the images were really nice, I'm not sure if the artist is a photographer, or something else but she has the rights to the images, but I really like them. The smoke isn't smoke but something constructed and suspended above the deer.

Other

I'm listing this as other because it's not photo oriented, but it is work done by a fashion designer, but i just like the idea and execution of this. Looking at it I'm sure these were done professorially in a studio because the lighting is overall even, but the website I found these on didn't have any photo credit for the images.

Ryan Yoon

These are photos done by this artist just thought they were really great photos, he didn't do the designs, but he did the photography for the images, and i just think the combination of the fashion designs, and the images just create great compositions.

Gwenaël Bélanger

I saw this artist and it reminded what Elena did for her studio lighting project and found them just to be really good in the way he is photographing them, and also the selection of objects he uses. Also his web page is in all french so i can't tell you more about him.

Gregoire Alexander

So again not a lot of info on this guy, but I like his work because since I'm in the upstairs studio next, I wanted to look at somebody who was really utilizing space in his work, and he covers everything from fashion, to art so it is nice seeing a wide variety skills used.

And what kind of cash do you have if you're ok with punching a hole in an infinity wall?

Katrin Backes

So this is a photographer, that is working with a huge group of people, , but her photographs are really great I think, and I'm not sure how much is her, I'm guessing that all photographic decisions are hers, but it looks like it more of a collaboration between hair, and fashion. I think it is neat to see work that involves more then just the photographer, but a group of people working together to create quality images.

Ulf Lundin

I think it is funny when two things connect, and I like this artist because it kind of connects studio lighting with photo 3. The first is I do like how these are lit, but the process is also interesting, he has someone sit in a studio for half an hour to an hour in complete darkness, and from another room he releases the shutter so that the person being photographed does not know when I'll go off. In his artist statement he talks about how when the person is left alone in the dark without any interaction they go in to a stand by mode. I think it's a cool idea and I like the look and effect of the portraits.

Now because it is funny

Levi van Veluw

So I am thinking of doing self portraits in this same vain of self identity that I'm doing for my photo 3 project, and this is more going to be an all encompassing theme in my work, like I have an Idea for my next digital imaging project that'll also involve this idea of identity. so i'm thinking of doing something like Levi van Veluw in the same vain that they are going to be studio self portraits, but I was thinking of covering my face in items that are stereo typically cover the face, along something like a ski mask, that if i can find one, stockings like a bank robber, and other things that you might not think of covering a face, but I can't make this any clearer, I'm trying to do something different and similar in a way. i think I'm doing a bad job explaining it, but I think it'll make more sense when i do it, again I'm going to talk to Haly tomorrow at the car wash to see if this is down the right path. oh yeah let me clarify right now i'm avoiding things like Halloween masks.

oh I also reserved the studio for tonight, Friday the 23, but I'm not going to be able to use it so it is free.

Debe Hale

So I feel like were in a lull right now because we are gearing up for using strobes, and to tell the truth strobes will probably be out of my realm of expertise, in that I have only dealt with them once, for a photo project. So in this post i'm just looking at an artist who is using light effectively with a space she is working in. She would have been a good artist to look at for the daylight project. The images I chose were images where the light adds to the space, which I think can be hard to show with what she is photographing, because there is a lot of competing textures but the light comes out as bringing something that adds to the images.

Now for something funny.

Improvement

So yeah went in an entirely different direction, and i talked to Haley, about it but was't too crazy about the subject matter, but on Friday night i just had a moment of clarity and found that i was really happy with my decision, you'll have to wait until Tuesday.

Test Shots

So I went out tonight and to shoot some test shots and really happy with what I got with my test shots, I hope I am heading in the right direction, open to locations and suggestions. But yeah i just wanted to quickly share what I shot.

Charity Vargas

So I found this photographer on photo eye I just hve to say that I love her work, and her work leans to what I was already planning on shooting. I was thinking of taking a break from shooting color and shoot some digital black and white. I was also going to break away from shooting people and focus on architectural elements, so I'm looking at her work as something to be thinking of in how she uses light and shadow. Her work has such strong black and whites, with also full tonal variations that I know i'm going to be looking a really long shutter speeds, but i want to accomplish it with no movement being seen in the frame. Her website is located here . Also the pics are going to be of varying sizes so sorry about that but i pulled the off of various google image search sources, but enjoy.

In Progress

So I do think I know which direction I want to head in for my studio lighting project after having two sessions for "test" shots I have one good picture, well one good picture that I like what is happening in it and after talking to Haily I feel more comfortable in the direction that I am heading. I am including the one image I am happy with tell me what you think, got some feed back on other photos I took so I know what I'm doing as far as those go.

Jessica Todd Harper

I chose Jessica Todd Harper for someone to look at for this assignment because she is photographing in a similar lighting conditions that I will be working with. In the photos that I was looking at are one using sunlight in an interior space. I've already taken test shots, and I am pretty happy with the results that I am getting, but The part I'm hanging up on is the idea of "concept." But Actually after looking at her images I do have That maybe adding other people into the shots, not to create narritive, but I guess tension could be a rout I could go in. Or I also could still do single shots with one person, but shoot other people, so it's not just one guy in all the shots. I'm hoping to get some feed back in working critique. I'm counting this as my proposal, other ideas I'm bouncing around in my head are ultra hipster or someone cross-dressing, just have to find a volunteer. Website

Brooks Rynolds

I found this artist from just exploring around the internet, I like the way he is using light in his compositions. It doesn't say what light source he is using, strobes I would venture a guess along with ambient lighting creates interesting compositions where the subject matter is enhanced by the use of lighting in the photographs. You can find his website here, and I am posting images that I really liked how they were lit. The one with the ship captain is my favorite more for the subject matter, I find humorous, which I really enjoy in art, I love it when I can look at something and laugh because it's done in a humorous manner, not because its done bad or something like that. Also if anyone knows where I can change the link text color in the HTML let me know so I can change it to something brighter the the dark color it is.

Assignment One Ramblings

So I feel that I was in the same boat as everyone else as to trying to figure out what it was that I wanted to do. I felt when I got this assignment I had a deer in head lights moment, and didn't really know what it was that I wanted to do. The only thing that came to me was Film Noir which is cool or can be, but to be honest I wasn't crazy about the idea, but it was the only thing in my head. I knew that if I wasn't crazy about it then it would not look good as a whole project, I am not saying it couldn't be done, it can, I just didn't want to be the one to do it. This is also a good reason to write down an idea when you get one because you can always use it later. The Idea of Photographing the driver using only ambient light came to be driving back after shooting my photo 2 final project. It was late at night and my car has a bright blue stereo deck in it, so much so, that it fills the entire car with blue light. Using it for this project I was really happy with the over all effect of the images I have collected for this project. Which also brings me to another point of self editing, I had extra images, so I would have 10 images covered. This was helpful because when I looked at the images together in the folder, I could easily see what was working together and which one were sticking out like sore thumbs.
